                                    Dear Sir it is with pleasure that I employ these precious moments of time as they swiftly pass away in communicating a few lines to you to let you know how I am getting along I am not very well at present but I sincerely hope if these lines ever reach you they will find you enjoying the best of health I havent any news worthy of your attention we have good weather now and we are expecting a fight at any time we are Fortifying every day
 
Milton I want you to try to get / me a Recruit if you can I am willing to pay $12500 and will satisfy you for your trouble besides you must get them as cheap as you can and not pay over one hundred and thirty dollars I will close the Boys are generally well John H Musgrove sends his Respects to you no more for the present I Remain
