I expect to go on duty again in the morning. I hope that father / is well by this time. dont bother about or believe what folks say about me for they dont believe it them selves and I would thank them to dog up for I am the same ugly snarling cuss that I was at home not altered abit and dont suppose I ever shall I am sory about your picture but I cant get one for the money you sent such ones as you pay a quarter for at home are a dollar apiece there is a smaller kind that they ask two dollars a doz. but I cant get less than a half doz and so I great hog as I was very hungry of course had to march off and get some thing to eat with the (your) money and then his (my) pig ship felt better of cours and has ever since so you see how you come to get this horred letter all through your letter and now let me tell you / that the pay rolls came into camp yesterday and so it is summised through camp that we wil be paid off soon and then I will have a good picture taken and send it to you.
