Dear Uncle
I now take the first orpurtuneity to answer your letter No 10 with the hopes to find your ch[?] as comfortable as such things can possibley be and the rest of the folks well I am improveing very fast the Regt had orders yesterday to be ready to strike this camp in eight hours notice we are to have or take 3 days rations in our havre sacks No one knows which way or where we are a going but the whole of the expedition is going to move this time I shall send my over coat home by one of our men that has got his discharge he will leave it where you got the box he's name is Miron E Hubard of Holden it is thought that we shall go north from here I hope so at least for it is uncomfortable to stay here it is pretty hot here now write all the news for I have not time to the drum beats for the Regt to be mustered in for there pay we shall get it in about six weeks then I shall send home some more if nothing happenes dont get shot or killed or wounded or sick I am getting pretty tough now I dont know how well I shall stand it to march I shall / try to do something towards it the men think that we shall come home by the last of July or the first of August but I dont believe it has Charly got sick of his drum yet who has Willard got in Boston with Willard to helpe him I dont want to smell any more of that scented paper I dont like it give more my love to all the folks who in quire and keep a good share yourself
