Dear Sister
I can only write a few lines as there is no news and its almost meeting time I received yours after waiting paitiently as you say you did for my last. I began to think you had forgoten you had a brother in the army of Uncle Sam. Since I received yours I also rec MaryAs which I will answer as soon as I can find something to write about I wrote Rebecca not long since. I thought I put on the Box 160 on my list, I must have been mistaken. I also herd from you by Mr Pearl I visit him often and always am treated in the best style by him I am realy proud of his acquaintance give my kind regards to his bro & wife
I received the m[?] not long since. When I get them read, I give them to Pearl. I find it good to be in chums with him in this hungry place. Johny Blanchard & Edmund Leach have just left they came over from Fort Totten to see me. all the Pympton boys in the H. Artilery are well.
You spoke of my sending word when I was coming home do not know as I shall come yet at all dont place much dependence on it for you may fail of seeing me my wound is doing well. We are having a fine day. I herd from home last Wednesday all well, via Washington.
I received a letter from Orrin & Burgess since I wrote you. B— wished to be remembered to you and the Briggses Orrin told me to thank you for those chevrons and tell you although the chevrons might fade he should never let your memory fade. / he said although they were given as a Christmas present they arived on New Years he would call the left arm Christmas the right New Years. I received a letter from Jenny Mcanns Friday they board at the same place Morton does.
Write and send papers if you please as usual untill otherwise ordered. I am sorry Foote did not succeed in reaching Washington he came near it as he was only 18 miles from Alexandria when taken his wife & child arived in W—Friday last I am sorry Gen Butler has been relieved I believe he will yet come out all right Read is still here but will be sent to the front this week. My kind regards to the Elmer family & all other acquaintances in springfield Love to uncles family & the Briggses.
There are 1500 in this hospt yet they arive as fast as they leave
4 PM I have just returned from services in the Chapel the Chaplain McFalls spoke from these words Be ye not weary in well doing. his discourse was splendid. This eve I shall again attend. Also on Friday eve if life is spared. Excuse blunders and one eyed writing in two years I can tell you what I would now write but time prevents with love
