Heard from Ephraim last eve he had just received a letter from Deborah she was well and had sent her picture and those of her children to her Mother. She wrote she should not come home untill the war has ended. its almost dark Uncle Sam does not furnish us with candles enough to make up our nest by. We have to purchase at the Commisary that is if we have the needful so & do.
The news boys are crying out & sell their papers. they charge 10 cts each for newspapers. I wish I was down in Fathers Cellar now long enough & get some of his apples only 8 cts each here. Our Major has just returned Expect Col Pierce and the men who left with him & recruit soon. I do not know wheather they have succeeded in / enlisting any one or not I must stop and make my coffee Give my respects to all of Uncles family Lydia, Rebbecca & Mary Ann (By the way is any one waiting uppon Rebecca now) Sergt Jenks is well and sends his regards.
