Morning 6th
well this morning is nice but has the apearance of rain we are just going to fix up camp I dont kno what with for there is neither wood or anything but stone well I got a good sleep last night and feel well this morning we get plenty to eat here we can buy anything we want only it costs I dont buy much I bought 2 dozen small apples I paid $1.00 for them you kno I am fond of apples I had as many as I could eat I have not been in the city yet we are campt so we can see nearly all over the city I want to go in some day we have lots fun here especialy last Sunday the citizens such as Preacher Clerks and all big bugs / came out to see the lines and rebs as there was quite heavy fireing all day but every one was snatched up and had to take a pick or shovel and work on the fortifycations it went hard for some of the fine Kid Gloved Gentry I tell you we just boared them it was fun for us to see them puf and sweat but the guards made each one work an hour then sent them back well there are some Crawford men here that are working for government one Miller and Perry Malery was her yesterday and Frank Johnson hellow the canon is booming again so I will close write often while I am here and I will do the same

I will write a little more I got another letter from Jef the other day he is left at Lexington their Regt has goan to Cumberland Gap You spoke by your letter about going to Ind this winter you wanted me to say if you could go now you are Boss there I leave all to you if you want and can you can go and welcom if I was there I would go with you I want you to take all comfort you can I just got what I can if you have anything to pay on that money let me kno and if you get Greenback well today is cold rainy and disagreeable but I have our pup tent to sit under so i keep dry if not warm
Oh yes Lime Parcher is here he was on picket near us some of our Regt saw him James Kelly was here in our Company he requested me to write in my letter to his folks as you may see them he is all well I expect to get a pass some day to go in the city maby I can see the fashions I will close this and write soon again I gues Billy Hutchison is goan up he has not been heard from yet he is no good friend of mine he was a big feeling and mad at me because I got promoted and he is only Corporal ever since I was 7th Corp now since I got a commision he is worse and said he would desert if I took command so it goes from jelousy all right I dont care for any one no more
