Kind wife this beautiful Sunday morning i feel like writeing again to you there has not been any change since I wrote before we are still under marching orders but where to I nor none of us kno there is verious rumors afloat one report is our Division and 1 or 2 others stay here some go forward another repoart we go to reenforce Grant and another we go to Cumberland Gap now you see we cant tell until we go for my part I believe we will stay here yet for a while it is believed the rebs are mooveing away from our front some of them come away verry suden Friday morning our Cavelry captured 180 of their cavelry pickets and brought them in town I think they must be getting thined out we catch so many / well today is clear and warm but all we do today we have inspection at 9 Oclock our arms and accouterments and knapsacks and all then we have the rest of the day of in camp yesterday we had a washday you can form a idea of the scene on Stoneriver where hundreads were washing fires kettles then as many have only one shirt some washing there pants and shirt dressed with a bouse only and some dancing on the sod naked while there clothes are drying all fun and lively
well I hear some of the Crawford Butternuts claim the Crawford County soldiers are and will be with them to sho our sentiments on that score we got up resolutions sined by every member of Comp. E. and all but a few of Comp. C. you will find them in the Journal afterwhile some that refuse to sine are true men and some / because they may offend there Butternut friends I put my name down I dont want any Butternut friends they are our enemies and I want them out of the way and off the Earth they are the men that are keep up the war by encourageing the south and discourageing the soldiers I hear Colonel Frantz is a Coperhead well kill him I fear political strife will turn some good men our Major I believe if he gets home will go back to the old rotten party but he is first rate here it is now time for inspection I will finish after dinner I have got my dinner we just got the news that Vixburg is ours and 57 canon it caused a few yells here things look more favorable for us the rebs are skedadlen from here well I have but little to write today I felt like writeing some to you I should like this nice day to be with you and go to the river but that must be put off / until we get the Rebs cleaned out which I think wont be verry long any more I will close I got my fether broke I will send the piece that broke off it will do for the children to play with I send one other of them envelops with poetry I wont send any more if it makes you feel gloomy it is the last i have no more now but remain as ever faithful Charles Morfoot
