in camp near Murfreesboro
Dear Wife I received your letter today containing the pictures I was glad to get them they are nice Cora looks as natural as ever Ida has grown lots when I said I had pictures before I opened the letter the boyes gathered around to see them they say they are confounded prety for my children I new that before they told me you say Greenich ar giveing you hell give them hell double portion dont be shit on by any Dvl of a Butternut in Ohio
well mam I dont kno what to write of interest to you I will tell how things are going in and around Camp we have been in camp all week / we drill at 7 AM and 4 P.M. the res of our time we stay in the shade make rings play checkers and cards and play with our dogs we have 2 or 3 such pups in our regiment they are the nisecst smartest pups I ever saw one we call Rosey he is not larger than a big cat he will speak and do lots tricks he is part blood hound so much for dogs
well I have been to the river to day and washed my shirt and pants they was too wet to put on rite away so I came to camp in drawers and blouse until they dry we have plenty to eat and drink here we get poark crackers flour potatoes rice tea coffee sugar beans but still if you could cook my meals it would suit me better /
our Company is increasing some our prisoners are comeing up and the sick that were left back occasionly one leaves for the Hospital one of ours is goan to the smallpox Hospital he had them they have a camp by itsself for them the smallpox is not verry bad I believe our Company has less sickness at this time than any time yet we hante one to repoart to the doctor for more than a week. if you get my coat let me kno the rest got theirs from Deil any thing you get state it then I can tell if they go through safe I suppose the next letter I get from you findes me out on the mountain again among the lizards and Rebs we go next week again for 10 days picket however the mail comes to us every day but the chance is not so good to send away / I will send another ring I shall send as I write you may give some to your friends if you like I got a letter from Mary Boyer in 3 days after mailed I sent her one ring I will send a large one in a newspaper some day I will close by bidding you a good by for the presant
