Winchester August 17th 1863
Dear wife I will penn a few lines to you to inform you I am well and the long looked for order has come to march we march at 2 oclock P.M. I dont kno where but on to the front someplace according to different repoarts it will be someplace on the Railroad in alabama if you dont hear from me for a while dont be oneasy for it may be some time before i have a chance to write or to send I wish you to write as often as convenient anyhow I can get mail better than send I will write as soon as we stop you may direct as before they will follow the Regiment we have had heavy rains for 3 days back this morning is pleasant and cloudy I hope it may keep so I fear it will be so hot if it is there will be many drop out along the way I sent you a Bulliten yesterday I will close as I have much to attend too now to get ready nomore now Good by again
