This has been a busy day we came in from picket this morning then went out 2 miles and had a general Review of our Division by Rosecrans he is a verry plesant man we just came in I got a letter from Jef and 25 cts in it and a letter from Eliza Mcreary and lizy a good big one worth $1.00 easy and I just now received one from Caroline with a express receit for a box they sent me I am liveing well yesterday and today I bought 50 cts worth of bread and 60 of butter you cant tell how good it was if you dont believe it just smell my haversack then I got 6 small onions for 25 cts / and 3 good apples for 25 I had a few good meals but I must fall back on hardtacks and sowbelly it takes two much money to live good more than 2 days I must close and get some supper tomorrow I will write to Caroline and Thomas McCreary write often tell Caroline and Elen to write every week at least I answer all I get letters is better to soldiers than Doctors medison
