Dear wife this morning I again write to you I cant be in debt for letters I received yours of the 1st mailed the 3d it came the 8th that was put through on quick time also one from Col Mc it sais he has given the order for my clothes and will bring them with him I knew if he had been here they wouldent of jumpt in my place but I will tell you and you alone they all hate Mc worse than the Devil and because he is my friend they would put their friends in while he is absent this all goes by haveing somebody to leg for them I have 2 good friends highes in authority if / it was not for them I would today been 7th Corporal these are Col Kirby Commander of our Brigade and Col McDonald they got my commision and they ordered my promotions Co sais it will be all right as it is he said he will settle for all my things and I can pay him when I draw pay so you nead not trouble about them I forgot to tell him to bring shoulderstraps but I gues he knows I must have them they cost from 5 to 10 Dollars enough of this

well you are alone I think I think you are good pluck sure to let George go and him too I fear he will get homesick perhaps not it is a good way from home for him but I think 8 Dollars is hardly enough the way other wages are for summer work but I suppose he could not get / more at home you spoke about Eliza going to Dans and of you I have nothing to say if you want to why go but if not now if I get home we will boath go as I intend if I get home to go every place I dont kno why Dan never writes to me I have never had a letter from him since he soald his farm I wrote I think 3 to him since he went to Ind and got no answer so I gave it up and dont intend to write again I suppose Sis has a jolly time among sugar out their I have wrote to Williams 2 or 3 times and have not got any answer so that windes up in that quarter if I cant get an answer for 3 letters I conclude they dont care about answering I still get from Dave and Violet and Mary Boyer is the best girl I have to right except my old gall Betsy she is best of all /

well I have not heard from Jef lately I did not kno he had left Louisville he wrote me they expected to stay 3 or 4 weeks to get new horses and to get pay he said if I wanted money he would send me some as he would not nead any of his pay and bounty as he had enough comeing for his watch and a coat so I wrote him to send me 20 Dollars I dont think they are at Chattanooga they may be I dont kno what they are here for unles to hunt gurrillas as there is no Reb army near us or Chattanooga if he is there I will get a letter soon from him we are about 115 miles from their south west well it is rain today again and thundering now I expect about tomorrow to be on picket I hope it wont rain until my trick is past I will have to borrow a sword for that job well I send this time the other ring Oh did you ever get a photo I sent one of Dave McEachron I just was looking at you and the little girls I take a look every once and a while well I expect you will get boath letters about one time as I sent one yesterday
