In Camp at Russelville Tenn
March 26th 1865
 
            Dear Wife this verry beautiful Sunday I will write to you again it is a long time since I heard from you but as the bushwhackers has been burning some trains perhaps they got my letters well I am well we left Strawberry Plains 3 days ago we came here last night our Brigade is the advance of our Corps we are 55 miles above Knoxville our Regt is here alone the balance of the Brigade went on this morning to Bulls Gap 8 miles farther we expect to go tomorrow we came here verry lame all of us the road is hard and rough I gues we will stay a while at Bulls gap until the Railroad is repaired then I expect we will go on in Virginia the Cavelry is ahead of us someplace report is they are now at the state line there is no army of Rebs here but plenty of gurrillas /
 
well as I am stif and sore and no prospect of mailing this until we get to our destination I will only write a little this part the cuntry is hilly and poor there are plenty citizens in camp and I think good union ones they are glad we have come and neighbors are getting together talking over their escapes and hardships many have been hid months from these Rebs they point out every reb in the neighborhood well I will close this and ly down and rest and sleep a little as I could not sleep for cold last night if we settle and can mail I will write soon again so goodby from

I have a chance to mail now the rest of our Division has come and the supply train is comeing in Man Kies is along and well I expect we go in the morning I must hurry to get this in Goodby
