Dear wife this morning I write a few lines to let you kno of our wherebouts and that we are about to march once more we are to go at noon and it 9 oclock now we are going on a raid to North Carolina just our Brigade i expect a hard tramp of it as it is far and will be bad roads I am well and I gues I can go it with the rest I find it looks for rain again I think the object is to run out the gurrilas and get some of our prisoners that has escaped and are among the mountains I dont like the job verry well as no train will go along and we may get short of grub and then we must carry our baggage if we want any thing along /

well I cant write much now and if you dont hear from me for a long time you may expect we are away from any line of mail I dont kno how long we will be goan Oh we had a visit again in the shape of a barrel of crout and one of pickels from the Sanitary Commision nice pickels all soured and ready to eat and verry nice crout we cant stay to enjoy it now I will now close this and say Good by until you hear from me again and
