dear wife i got youre letter dated the Feb the 24 an i was glad to heare from you but i was sorry to heare that my dear little babe was sick but i hope that god will bless it an you all i got a letter from dolly to day an she sed that ned had volinteerd to come out heare an she sed that i must take charge of hem but the ruls is so tite that to tell i am a fraid that he always will be in the gard house but if he coms i will do the best i can for hem there is 2 of our men in the gard house at this time for going to sly sleepe on post thay are Jack Wiliams an bob warters an if ned coms he will be in the same fix i am afraid this leaves me well at this time but i feel bad for i have ben on dewty for too weaks on gard or on the battry but the worke stoped to day an i think we will have to leave manassas an that soon / tha are halling evry thing from heare as fast as tha can i loaded five cars with guns an amunition day before yestidy we have got orders to pack up to be redy to start at a word an i will git a little closter i think i am glad to no that you got the money that i sent you tell mack to rite to me i did not git the letter that she rote to me god bless you all is my prayrs do the bes you can tell i git back if i ever git back the chance is bad at this time we had orders to send off all of our sick an we sent of ed tex an alfard Shaw an John young you must rite soon so i must close for i am so sleepy tell i cant rite i remain youre true husband un tell dath                                                        T.
