                                                                                                                        Dear wife i take the opportunity of riteing you the seventh leter an i have got no ancer from you yet this leaves me not well but iam not down but i have not had a appetite in three weakes i have eat nothing in that time hardly i hope these few lins may find you an the children well i never wanted to here from you so bad in my life mary has rote to Henry but she never sed eny thing a bout you / i want you to rite to me as soon as you git this leter an rite all the news the times is hard out here every thing is high i am a going to send you five dollars in this leter an rite soon i want to here from you an the babys so bad i want you to be good to ruth an luce an rite to me if you draw eny thing and how much give my love to all of my kin an yourn an tell them to rite to me it dos me so much good to git a leter /
 
i cant send you but five at this time for i am a blidged to keep som i have got a bad finger on my knuckel is a sore biger than a dime i want you to be a good Girl an take ceare of youre self an think of me an when there is eny meating have me praid for an pray for me youre self it will be happy times when we meat at the end of august 1862 i will git a furlow 2 months long an fifty dollars extry
