          Father and Mother Dear parrents
I take my pen in hand to inform you that I am well at the present and I hope when these few lines comes to hand they may find you all well and enjoying good health I received your letter to day that you wrote the 11 of this month I was glad to hear from you I hate it that I caused so much trouble you ma know that I will come home before I go any where else I want to see you all verry mutch but I cant come now and I know that you are all better satisfied to know that home dont bother me than if I was to write to you in evry letter that I was home sick and wanted to come and that I could not stay hear nor would not stay dont you no that thair is nobody that thinks more of parrents than I do. I had a difernce with Dr Hubbard he is what I call a reble him and Dr Burgess split to Dr Hubbard sent me to my Company becaus I was Abolision Dr Burgess is a Lincol man I stayd in the Company 2 day and Dr Burgess was appointed Briggade Surgeon he was hardly apointed till he ordered a detail for me as ordly I am now acting Stuard for the 3 Brig and will tell there is a Stuard detailed an then I will be ordly for Dr Burgess I think more of him than any man I have ever saw in the army and he thinks a greatdeal of me and consequently we ar both suited / he come to me yesterday and ask me if I was satisfied I told I was he said Hubbard did not gain mutch of a point by sending me to my Company
 
Pap I want you to write to me some thing about the election Send me the names of all that will vote for honest old abe as we call him hear in the neighborhood I am interrested in if Abraham is the man this time I think dont you Pap I would like to talk an hour with you befor the election if I could but I guess I cant I guess you will vote all right as Mcclelan is a sothern man I saw a letter from the army of the potomac and it said abe would get 9 votes out of 10 I think that will do him I will close on the subject as I think you ar for abe
 
                                    Mother you must know that I am subject to Dr Burgess orders and I shall obey him & when I want advise I will go to him for it for he is capable of giveing advise and I know it he will not advise me rong the say we will be mustered out of the survis the 4 day of January and then I will come home as son as I can get thare that wont be long you no only 3 month and a ½ tha is nothing ½ years I want to se all the children very mutch pap I also received a letter from you that was wrote July 5th 1864 with one stamp in it write soon all all the nuse I have no nuse to write William is well and the rest that you know So I will close by requesting you to write soon and often Amen I remain your Son
