George (?) to Julia (?), 10 March 1864
Richmond March 10th 1864

Dear Cousin Julia
Your epistle of the 29th ult reached me the first of the week. I was much pleased to hear that my cousins enjoyed themselves, but was sorry that Cousin Minnie did not have the right partner in the dance. You certainly did raise my curiosity about the certain individual who intends to take the white veil, but you must not forget to do as I requested—to kiss the bride for me & I will return it to you with interest. I cannot be present on the memorable day as I am now a Soldier. I am a member of Company F. 3d Va Cavalry in the same regiment with the Cumberland troops. I have 9 days furlough after which time I will report to my regmt. tell Cousin Minnie, she must send me a heart in a letter, which is the sign of my Regmt.

Cousin Julia, I was much surprised on last Sunday to receive a call from a lady on a white horse. she was a stranger to me, and must have come a long distance, for she has / been on her way since the 14th of Febry. She was beautiful but appeared much worn out, with her journey. She came as a messenger from some one of my lady friends who lives either in Fluvannah or Cumberland.

It was cruel for Miss C— Poyntz to treat the Doctor in that manner. Capt Wm Poyntz was at Camp Lee yesterday as a conscript he went before the board here but they would not exempt him. How will the president of LowTown do without his friend Capt Poyntz.

You must not trouble yourself about sending that S. L. Messenger but keep it and also the Febry no if it come to hand at Bremo

My love to all my good friends of Spring Garden Sister wishes to be remembered also, to your Ma & family.

I saw Henry Edwards Monday he was well—excuse this imperfect letter as I am in great haste.

                                                                        Write Soon to your friend
                                                                                                & Cousin George
