Camp Daufin Oct the 24 1862
 
                                                                                                                        Dear Sister
I take my pen in hand to anser your kind letter wich i got yesterday and was glad to hear from you i am well as ever i was all the rest of the boys is well but miller he was took into washington last saturday he was getting better turn over /
 
fast he had a tuch of the tifoid fever he hadent it very hard Well we left Camp Boas last fryday and went out to miners hill and picht tents ther and stayed till thirsday and came within a mille of camp Boas we caried our napsackes all the time their is some talk of us a going to washington as provos gardes we have served about three monthes of our time it slipd around fast tell elaxander mars i hant got a letter from him yet tell him to write and i will write to him. /
 
Well Jane i wood like to see you all but i expect i wont see you till the nine monthse is up tell bub that i would to hear from him once more i have not got any letter from home for a weak till this one well i will have to bring my letter to a close for this time you must write as soon as you get this so i will close by
