My Sister
I once more take the opportunity to speak to you once more by letter I finde my Brothers & sister does not think of writing to a soldier Brother I feel hurt over it I have not had a letter from you since we crossed the Tenn river I have not had a letter from Alec I could not tell the time when now because you are at home and have plenty to read you need not think I am in the same fix neither am I destitute of feelings I like to have a letter as well as any one to day I am twenty three years old I wish I was at home to take a birthday dinner I think I could enjoy myself hughly to what I will here in camp we have some gay times but the weather is very bad it raines two days clears up one then raines again mud mud mud. I would love to be home to have a sleigh ride this winter I wish the home folks could for one hour see us here in chattanooga we can stand on our works and look over into the rebel camps they about three quarters of a mile off we can hear each others music
I have not had a letter from ohio since our advance from murfreesboro I supose they never get my letters or they dont like my tone on butternutism all right I have not had any word from Mo for a long time when you write to salie Duncan tell I want a letter did you get my letter with Franks photo in it aint he a beauty if the war closes this winter I will go west with you I heard that John Dunwiddie was about to be married I want to know who to I think he had better come to the army and do something for his country let me know if there is any new young folks cant you send me a list of scollars at your school I would like to see who they all are I cant write much tell susan I will write her a letter in a few days tell the inquisative I am well. yes do you know wheather Sallie Duncan ever went to her sister Mollies she told me to direct to that place I did tell her so in your next letter does bill T Krug drink yet. well I am out of gas so I will stop I hope I will hear from you oftener your brother W.S.
