                        Ringold Georgia March 23d/64
 
Dear Sister
                        I will try and give you a history of my trip back to my regt. the day I left home I took the chill's I was very sick but I am well now I took the stage that Sunday night I got to eddyville the next morning I took the cars the next morning went by way of Keokuk crossed the river and started for Springfield Ill we got within 3 miles of Claton when the train run off the track so we had to lay all night I met A. Duncan there I went to crawfordsville wednesday morning I went to the Hill thursday afternoon I found all the friends well / I dug some roots and started them to father I want to know if he got them or no I had a fine time in Ia the last time we had a very nice party the night before I left I see John Kuney he & I made friends he spoke & I could not hold shite to a wounded soldier so I caved I left pleasant Hill on tuesday got to Indianapolis wednesday well we left there Saturday we went via madison got to Nashville on tuesday night we left there on Saturday So we got to the regt on last Sunday we come into camp in time of church the boys made such a noise when we got in that they broke up the meeting (quite a pitty) I sent father a letter from Nashville & in / it I sent my picture for Susan Makafa I want you to tell her to write to me give me her address there was no letters for me when I got back I want you to tell Sallie A. Duncan to write to me for I wrote her two letters and got no answer there was a letter came for me frome Georgetown Ohio but tom H. had lost it I suppose it was from Keziah Shields. I will stop I will send you the the photo of miss Anna Davis of Ohio a corespondent
