Ezra C. Brett Statement, 30 April 1867
I hereby certify on honor that the articles were charged to the men on the Muster & Pay Rolls as represented in the return for the Month of March 1864. I kept a book (for the purpose) and when a man lost anything through neglect I charged it to him, and when I made the Muster & Pay Rolls I transfered the charge to them. I have lost the book, and I am unable to furnish the names of the men and the articles charged.

I also certify that I received but four (4) prs Socks in the month Nov 1864 as shown by my pocket memorandum, and I issued them to the men

I also certify that the two (2) Haversacks to be accounted for in Feb. 1865 were not lost to Government through any neglect of my own. At that time I was in command of the Battalion, and my returns were made by a Sergt who made an error in not bringing them forward from previous return, and if lost I was not known to it. I also certify that the articles were issued to the men in March 1865 as represented by return for that month.
