Dear Ina.
                        No doubt you ar uneasy. This is the first opportunity I have had to write for a time since the date of the first. I have so short a time to write that I forgot to date it is 2 Oclock of Aug Sep 3d I am real well. Good we hold Atlanta the Rebels were flanked out we hold all north When the rebs When Hood left Atlanta they burned 80 cars of ammunition we herd the explosion 20 miles All the sick and infirm will in a few minuts start for Atlanta and will take this. Evry indication is that Sherman intends / to follow our forces have pressed the rebs very hard the 4th Corps fought them night before last and took 2000 prisonors. No doubt you will get the particulars in the papers The 112th have not had any fighting since August 6th Our troops ar in great spirits. It rained today. I enclose a fig leaf it is a medium size the fruit grows at the base of the leaf on the main stalk. it is a scrubby bush or tree. I found one nearly ripe. Dear Ina how much I should be glad to hear from you. hope you and the little ones ar well. Write me a large lot of news and when it comes I will make a buisines to read and answer. I am ever your
