Dearest Ione,
This beautiful but cold Sabbath has nearly passed and I am still enjoying health. Company A ar well situated compared with other troops. we ar in a stockade 18 by 25 feet, made by standing very heavy timbers on end to form the side wals. the top is coverd with heavy hewed logs, then coverd with dirt 3 feet thick. the sides ar banked up on the outside 5 feet high, and port holes ar cut through the timber that forms the sides. we found a stove and pipe which keeps with the important / part wood very comfortable. I drew some Sanitary today which was 1 small cucumber pickle and 1 table spoon full of kraut with 6 common sized onions to two men. The men ar as crazy after vegitables as a child is for sugar candy. It will soon be Christmus. I dont know but I had better order what I wish for that day. First a large suply of fresh hugs and kisses of your make. I dont wish any shortning put in or eggs to make them light. My digestive organs ar good. Some vegitables with buisket, butter, and honey for dinner and supper. In regard to food I could be easy satisfied that is the least of my anxiety Nearly every night after I lay down /
