Dear Ina,
I have recieved and read yours of April 15th also one from Roza of the 16th I wrote you day before yesterday that we expected to move on the following day. we did not move one or two A.C. did move and today they ar returning (such is the report) It is generaly believed that Johnston surrenderd yesterday yet I would much rather see an official conformation of it. We can hear nearly evrything and anything in one day. We ar all very ancious to start for home. When you hear us a knocking at the door you may look for us. I am well. The day is warm. I have just returned from a testament class / which has been organized a few days. we have prayr meetings nearly evry evening.
April 28th. I am well but do not feel in a writing mood as I enlisted to fight traitors and the thing is done and fairly done. Johnston surrenderd all the force east of the Mississippi River We have not herd any more of the particulars. We understand that a portion of the troops will be sent to Md but we [?] the 3d Division expect to go to Greensburg N.C. which is 80 miles N.W. of here. An order came this morning to grant one furlough from the Co. I think the one year men that just enterd the service which can tell us great long stories about their seeing sights, and many of them never saw the flash of a gun
