Dear Brother
Having a fiew moments lesure I embrace the opportunity of adresing a fiew lines to you to let you know that I am in the land of the living and O.K. I arrived in in Camp on the 25th day of March after a long and unplesant journey, but I am now properley fixed and every thing mooves on in military order I should have writen befor this but I have had so much to do that I have had no time unoccupied, but as the old saying is better late than never. I thought I would adopte it in this case. We are having very unplesant weather here at presant it raines and snows about every other day, keping it very wet and unplesant under foot, so much so that we are compeled to stay in our tents the most part of the time. We expected to have a grand review of our Corps to day but it comenced raining and snowing last evning and still continues so of corse we did not turn out but will as soon as the weather will admit.
as I have no news of any importance to write you at presant I hope you will excuse this short and uninteresting note likewise bad writing and speling for I am scribling it in a great / hurrey in order to get it off in tonights male I am perfectfuley well at presant with the exceptions of a bad cold. I am in the best of sperits thinking the war will soon be over but not without a severe spring campagn which I think will come off as soon as the roads will admit.
Tell Tom Carling I would like him to write and let me know how he get along withe that littel job he undertook while I was at your place
as I can think of nothing elce to write about and it is getting late I will close for this time with my love and best wishes to you & Rachel and respects to all inquiren friends, I remain as ever your affectinate Brother
