Dear Brother
I have the honor of acknoledgin the receipt of your ever welcom letter of the 25th of Apr I was pleased to here from you and that you wair all in the enjoyment of good health. I had begin to think you had forgotten me entirley as you did not write but I suppose you have bin buisey like my self and not much time to write, but as the old saying is better late than never. news is scarse here at presant and I hardley know what to write you that will bee interesting / to you, but I will try and scribble off something after a fassion.
we wair presented with a splendid white Silk Battel Flag with a a red cross in the center yesterday by our late General ATA Torbert and Staff. it was manufactured by the fare Ladies of Newark N.J. We are still in oure olde quarters but are expecting to moove every day now. But I hope we will not for a couple of week now for I would like to get payed off befor we enter on a campaign. I have nearly two hundred Dollars coming to me now and I would like to get it and send to my banker or it may bee a long time befor I get it if we moove. we have got a socking olde regiment Brigade now the Tenth is out in oure Brigade / it making six Regiments in all the Army of the Potomac is nearly twice as large as it has ever bin I think it will make things houle when it breaks loose the troops are in good condition and very healthey concidering
As I can think of nothing else to write you I will close by stating I am well and in good sperits hoping this to find you all the same. Tell Jane I am much obliged to her for answering my letter although I havent seen it yet. Hoping to here from you soon I remain as ever
Yours Truly
