Firstley Sis was taken very poorley and I did not like to leave and the conciquence was died. then my time was up and I waire compeled to return, and did not get to my regiment then untill three days after my Furlough was up but that was all right. I should have writen long befor this but realey Tom I have not had time to write it is now after twelve oclock at night, and I waire up all last night on duty So you may think I do not feel much like writing a very interesting leter. I am happie to tell you the box / you sent me came safe to hand yesterday after being on the road for a month and ten days but every thing was good in it yet. it came very exceptiable indeed for we had just commenced oure mess and it waire quite a help to me
There is every prospect of the Joneys leaving Petersburg and Richmond I think we will have boath places inside of two week, and I think if Bob Lee leaves Richmond the rebelion is done at least that appears to bee the opinion of all deserters which are coming in in large large numbers. As I have no news of importance to write you at presant so I will bring this scribbling to a close, by stating that I am in tolerable good health onley I have a very bad cold and cough yet, but think I am getting some better—
Give my love and best wishes to Jane and all the famley, and also to all inquiren friends—
hoping to here from you soon I remain as ever youre Brother and well wisher no more but love and best wishes from Daniel R Forgus
P.S. When you write Direct Lieut Daniel R Forgus
