            Camp Neare Winchester Va June the 16 1863
 
                                                                                                Dear brother I this day seat my self to drop you some fiew lines to informe you that I am well as comon and I truly wish those fiew lines may saftley rech you and find you well I can say to you that I received yore kind letter to day and was glad to Hear from you I could tell you a rite smart if I had time to rite we have captured seven thousand Prisners and just as meney waggons as we want and Horseses and Bacon and flower and coffee and eney thing we wanted we taken Winchester and never lost no men hardley we ob only lost one kild at out of our Regt we got severl wounded we only got too wounded in our Company

We have got orders to be Redey to move at eney time we dont have eney Eide of where we are going but I no we are going to wards the yankees so I will come to a close by siging my Name A W Avrey to
