Camp Near Savannah ga Sept 22 1863
 
Dear father and Mother Brother and Sisters I this day seat my self to drop sum few lines to let you no that I am not very well Milton had the fever last nite but he is up to day I recive you letter of the [paper fold] glad to here from you an that you was well I want you to write every week and let me here from home for I want here from you all every week if could I will write every week you rote to me to no what we are doing we ant doing aney thing here at this time can say to you that we have got or orders to move we are going a bout 7 miles below here it is twelve miles from Savannah Thomas Register is at home and I want you to send me two Pare of socks by him when he comes back an send my [?] pants all so if he can fetch them an send Milton some too an send u us to Both some money if you pleas by him 
 
you rote to me to write all the news I have none to Rite but hard times I can say to you that we got tolable plenty to eat now Mother I wish I was there to eat potatoes with you for I dont get non unless I pay 50 cents a quart for them [paper fold]
 
I wish you could send me some from home I just no they would eat good I want you to rite every week and let here from you an I will rite every week all so an let you here from me So Nothing more at this time only I Remans your loveing Son until death
