Dear friends
I take my pen to drop you a few lines to inform you that I am well and I hope this will find you the same I am in a great hurry so you will have to excuse me for not writing more I have several that I have not answered I got one from Cyrus yesterday and I will not be able to answer it for some time so you will please tell him so I got one from B West that I have not answered and we leave here in the morning that is Co B C E and G we are to take ten days rations m we may be gone that long and may be / longer and I do not expect that I will get to write to you again untill we come back here again we had quite a time here yesterday but I cannot give particulars at this time it is very warm here and I fear we will suffer very much from the heat for it came very near killing some of us yesterday but I hope we will stand it I suppose you think Co B has a pretty hard time I will tell you the reason it is the Best Company in the regt and they cannot get along without her the Captains wife and two Children a boy and a girl the girls name is Marry she she will mail this letter / in the morning
Joseph is well you can tell his folks so if you please our Captain and second lieutenant is not going with us but the one that is going is the one we like the best I ha shall to close so good Bye for the present write soon give my love to all remaining as ever your affectionate son and Brother
