Friend Ephriam
Molly was going to write to you and gave me the privlege of writing to you. Oh. I felt so bad to think that you met with such misfortune Eph. when Mary read your letter they sed that Mary tirnd pale and Mother had to take the letter and see what was up. I am glad that you are still alive and it is as well with you as it is Oh. Eph. I hope that you nevver will be in another battle as long as you are in the servise. May God keep you from evver being in another battle. Albert is at our house I must stope writing at present. we are all well, at present. hope when we here from / you again that you again will be well. it is getting late.                      write often and oblige

                                                                                                Friend Ephriam I received your letter last eve I was glad to get it but was sorry to hear of your bad luck but it seamed so to me when I heard of this battle it seemed to me if I should never hear from you again but your life is yet spared but I hope you will never be in a nother battle if I was in your place I would have the rest of my time last in the Hosptial for I think you have don / your duty but if I was only thare at this present time to take care of you it is all I would ask for now when you write I want you to write all the particulars about your wounds if you are able to I hardly knew what to write for I feel so bad & excited I cant think of enny thing to write hardly so I will write what coms in my mind firs I got to of my picturs & four of yours & I let Ann have one & som one took one & I dont know who it was & I will send you one & I will have one left & when he get them others don I will do what you told me to with them I dont want you to let enny body see mine for it looks so & som of them that you have got I wish you would rub out for your one benifit 
 
Oh yes Ephriam I forgot to tell you Don had gone home to live he went three weeks ago & Joy go with him & I hope he will do well. Now Eph do you have good care I hope you will now write as soon as you get this & I will try & do better next time I am ever your
