I reseved your letter satterday and was glad to here from you it was a long time ago I reseved that picttur that you got took at Jamestown and I will send you my pictture in my next letter I have written 5 letters to you and I spose you aint got them by what you write I hope you will get this one and I hope I shall get an answer in return Ed Kerr was affraid of being drafted I gess they had drafted 4 out of North East Henry Eliott inlisted and / then hirde a fellow to go in his place Grandfather is ded. he dide 2 weeks a go last Sunday. Delila is married Mell and her wer married the 10 of September they went to Westfield. Delila answerd all of your letters & thinks it strange you donte answer them. Mariah Lott is dead she married John Stedson. Ma sends her love to you like wise Pa Mell and Delila Laffette Cave is dead.
 
Eph I will send my picture next time I write. I am to work to the brick tavern in North East to Bob Hills and I am going this morning I set the table and Lid Histed is the chamber maid we have a black woman that is cook and Lid is a full as evver. Eph I shall have to close this visiting by biding you good by Dan sold Dandy to Xeffronia Smith Julia sends a kiss Remember to write this is from your true friend and hope / you will have good luck threw every battle
