Buffaloe Via March 12th 1865

            Dear Brother
I have been looking for a letter from you for some time in answer to one I wrote to you about three weeks ago but have not received any yet therefore I thought you did not get it for if you had got it you certainly would have answered before this time for there was news in it that was worth attention it was in it that I announced the death of Father he died on the twelf 12th of last month for about eighteen hours before his death he was speechless and about that time he went asleep and in that way until he died and he died so easy that it was hard to tell wen he was dying I hope you will write soon we are all well at this time with the exception of myself I have had a very sore throat for about two weeks but it is now a little better I received a letter from Sarah Parens a few days ago stating that Capt Talbot is dead he died on the 19th of last month just seven days after Father she say also that Sarah Talbot takes it very hard and she / says she would not be surprised if she did not go deranged from it. She stated in her letter that Margarette was married but it and who she married and all about it. Ralph has lossed his oldest child it may be I told you about it before in some of my other letters. John Henderson has been buying himself rich for he has bought four negrows since Christmass he bought a negrow woman from William Harvey last January for $750 and the 8th of this month he bought Lotty and her two children for $940. As half of the time has already elapsed since Father died that the law alows the heirs to deliberate on who they shall choose for administrator it is time we should be doing something for Frank Willson is wanting to be put in also John S Leech and William A Maw and there is not three men in the country but what I would rather have in that office if you could be at home you would have it to attend to so mother says but I know you cannot leave they have all chose me to act and it may be that John Henderson will assist me but he does not like to accept of it I would be glad if you would write to me soon and let me know if you are willing for me to act. I would rather not accept of it if I could get over it for one reason that is I do not wish to confined at home which you know this will
