Dear Wife
as I am yet alive and have the priveliege of directing a few lines to you I was in the Battle of Resaca on Sunday the 15th inst and was wounded about 5 Oclock P.M. in the arm just below the elbow but it is not danjerous for there is no bones broken and I am in hopes soon to be able to get around although I am verry weak yet it is my left arm and I am glad I am no worse off and as soon as we are able to be moved they are going to send us north to be taken care of and then I am in hopes to get home. Give my love to my bretren and sisters in the Church and all my friends around /
