Sept 22d
I am now at the boats. Came in to bring a prisoner and am in an awful hurry to go back and can not write much. When I came in there was two letters here for me from you No 12 and 7. I have not had time to read No 7 yet. I hope Almeda is well by this time and congratulate them both for their addition of family. Yesterday we had a hard skirmish with the rebel pickets 2 of our men rec'd slight wounds in the action. Cooney wants me / to tell you that he rec'd a letter from Cyrus and one from Jenny and Melissa. I have them with me and as soon as I get back to camp will have the pleasure of peruseing them. Cooney says Cyrus did not send his address and wants you to send it.
In great haste,
Your loveing husband
