My Dear wife i take my pen in hand to in forme you that i am well at this time and i buley hope when those fiew lines com to hand tha will find you and the Children well and adoing well Rittey Ann i wrote five letters to you and i hav naever got the scrach of a penn i hope that you hav not for got mee. the to last letters that i rote to you i sinde your name on it i rote them when wee was in st Louis wee landed in macon sittey the 29 of november and the boys is all well at this time and wee will starte to Chillacautha in two or three days / and i wrote to you for you to direct your letter to Chillacautha when you wrote to mee you must direct your letter to the 23 Regment Mo voulentiers to Compney C our pay day is past and wee hav not got our pay yet wee exspect wee will get it in a fiew days so if wee get it as soon as i get it i think i will come home and see you all Capten trumbow says he will let mee com home to see how you are a getting along i sente one in vellop in each letter that i wrote last to you and stamps on them so fare well to all John w Sanders
