Dear wife i take my pen in hand to in forme you that i am well and i hope when those fiew lins com to hand tha will finde you all well and doing well i wold like to see you and the sweete Children but i cannot cant com now if you want to see mee you will hav to com down hear to see mee i wold be glad to see you and the children the worst ever did in my life and i want you to com down and see mee and if you com bring bed close to keep us warm while you stay the Cornel says he cant let us go home home be cause / generel hallac has ishued orders for him to not giv eny man aferlow, and tha think that wee will be moved from her in about 10 days wee will now in a fiew day whether wee be or not tindel has tille grafted to St Louis to generel hallac whether he is agoing to hav our regment moved from her or not tha say tindel says if wee donte be moved he will let us all hav fur lwse to go hom
 
I am agetting wod mee and ad Coon and Jim and John hooker wee are all agetting wod for the Compeny and wee hav to go wher ever the tame gose wee dont hav to stand garde atall when wee are at camp wee hav to tend role calls i can get a house for / us to stay in if you com down to see mee fetch sum meele and meele for us to eat while you stay with mee i will by a stove for you if i can when you com down if you can not write as soon as you get this letter i must now com to a close so no more at presant only remans yoar afection hus bon untill Deth yours truly

i will write you a fiew lins to let you now that Staferd broat my pants that you sent mee i was glad to hear from you and i was truley to hear that you and the children was all well and now i will send you twentey dollars in this letter by Andey Ridenhour and and i if you want mee to by a stove for you if you com down bring the money with you i want you to hav the tax pad get John owns to pay the tax marion says he wants you to weeve that cloth for tha neede it vary bad I want to see you and the children the worst ever did in my life no boddey can express my feelings
