I this morning seat my self to in forme you that i am well and i truley hope when those fiew lins comes to hand tha will find you all well and doing well Elic king got hear yesterd eavning and he sayd that you and the children was all well and you wanted me to com home if i cold and if i cold not for me to rite as soon as i cold now i will A well man has a bad chanc to com home while he is hear tho i think i will / com if we dont be moved from hear som thinks that we will stay hear untill we get dis banded generel Mc Clellan has drove the rebels back in thare in trench ments at Ritchmon and thare los was vary hevey tha fote 2 days and our men is all in good sperits generel Mc Clellan says his men is all in good hart and tha hav thare helth good and Corinth is vacuated and halac has posesion of the town the rebels has went to the grand juntion in Alabam and granedey in missipia som thinks that the rebels will never make another / stand after tha are routed at ritchmon Elic king says that you talked of bying a horse Rittey Ann dont by eny yet for i think i will get to com home after while and dont pay eny money out only what you are ablige to hav for i want to by a lot of calvs after while i think i can make money the fates that way i think peece will be made when ritchmon is taken i think the rebels is bad whiped if that place is took som men says that we will be moved up on the St Joseph and hanibel rail Rode to gard it / un till peas is made Elic sayd if i cold not com home you wold com to see me i want to see you and the children as bad as i ever did in my life but Rittey Ann it wold not do for you to com hear it wold be to hard for you to com thru the heat and exposure i do not think it wold do for you to com hear you dont now eny thing about travling and i think you had better stay with the children if i get sick i will rite i want you to rite as soon as you get this letter i may not com home untill the first of July so fare well to all J.
