My Dear Wife I take my pen in hand to drop a fiew lins in ansor to your letters which came to hand one on the 16 and one on the 20 which I red them with pleasure and was glad to hear from you and to hear that you was all well the reason that I hav not rote sooner to you is on the 16 the same time that I got the letter we got oarders to move the same day and I did not hav time to ansor your letter and we landed hear on the 20 and we releaved the 19 Meshigan regment tha was hear last winter with us tha hav goan to the front our Officers says we hav moved the last time till we go North and I had rather stay hear then to go front but I dont like this place on the acount of not getting news or letters often and front is worse then this if we dont go front I think we will leav hear for St louis a bout the first of August I think think we will be musterd out a bout the last of August tha can keep us till the 22 day of September we hav had the best luck of eney regment I ever heard of and I dont no what is the reason we hav bin favord and kep from the front all the time since we left Shilo the boys is all well and tha are a playing ball this morning while I am ritting kings boys is all well and all of our boys is well and I think we are in a helthy place we are in the mountians the wether is cool and cloudey to day and we hav had the most cool / windey wether I ever seen the sitzons says tha never seen as coold backword spring for a number of years the trees is a putting forth thare leavs the grass is vary short and non but blue grass hear the will be lots of fruit hear if it is not kild with the frost yet we hav to go on gard a bout every fourth day or fifth well Rittey Ann I hav me a nest to my self 5 of us is in a shantey and I wish I cold be with with you to sleep with you I dremp of being with you and I thought the children was with us and I then waked up and found my self mestaken I was a laying on a soldiers bed and no sound of your vois cold I hear but Oh I hope to see the time when I will see you and the children and hav pleasure with you as we use to hav keep in good hart I think I will see you all yet Oh if I was with you I wold giv you a hug and a kiss Rittey Ann just think of the pleasure that we used to see of nits when I am studing about you and the children I want you to rite how you are a getting a long let me no whether you hav got that pen from John Cooper or not and my over coat from Jack Wilkenson I put the pen in a letter and John Cooper said he wold take them to you I sen a speer fastend on the brest of the over coat betwen the linen and the out side let me no tell the Children I send my lov to them and want them be good to you I must now close rite soon as you can
