My Dear Wife I am blest with the privolige of dropping you a fiew lins to let you no whear we are we got hear the first day of this month we are a watting for three of our Companeys to come tha was left at McMinnville till other troops came to releav them and we heard that men was sent on to releav them and we think tha will be hear by to morow nite or nex day nite shure and then we will starte to Chatonuga if the Oarder is not countermanded I beleave we are a going to the front as soon as we can march thare tho the wether is so hot that we cant march fast and pack our close and nap sacks tha say that we will draw new guns when we get to Chatonuga we will draw ende field rifels our guns is condemed /
 
well now conserning that land I rote to you that Joshua hendrixson and me wanted the land he says he cant hear from home a bout that money he sent home and he is a frade that he is not abel to by the land till we get out of the servis and wants me to wate till we go back to St louis and then we can go and see the man our selvs he says if eney bodey is a going to by the land for you to rite to mee and we will try to save the land we will wate till you ansor this letter finde out all a bout it and rite it to mee dont let eney bodey no a bout it but your self
 
rite and let mee no the mans name that owns the land and giv mee his address and the Numbers of my land and then I can get the Numbers of that and if you hav got an ansor from the letter you rote to him pleas let me no his price for the land pur achor /
 
            well Rittey Ann this is the 7 this eavning late we got nuse that we hav to leav soon in the morning we hav to go front so I think and I will rite the truth to you if I no it all ways I think we are neaded thare I am no better then lots of others that is thare and I am shure if I get home it will be no disgrace to mee or if I fall eather on the battel field or eney other place I want to meet you and the dear children in heven Oh let us pray for each other and liv for god and not for man it is so late that I will hav to close

            I hav lite a candel and Ill rite som more to nite how mutch money hav you got let me no and I think we had better wate till I get back to St louis so then we will now how mutch money we will have then / now if wolfether goes to by the land he will hav to borrow the money or wate till he gets out of the servis if he or eney elce is a going to by it let me no and we will do the best we can we will get the land if posibel write soon as you get this letter I will rite the first chance I can get and tell you how we get a long write all a bout how you are a getting a long and whether you hav solde the mare or not and how the times is thare this is 5 or 6 letters that I hav sent by Cooper or kenedy and that is all I hav got from you for over one month it seams that if you rite to me I dont get them tho you rite to others and tha hav got them and me a lone yet tho I hope you hav not for got me tho I am not with you my lov is with you you are as near and dear to me as ever I lov you and pray for you all so fare well to all
