My Dear Wife I am permitted to drop you a fiew lins to let you no that I am well this eavning and I truly hope when those lins comes to hand tha will find you and the children well well I can tell you I hav seen a grate many things since I rote to you when I was at Tulehoma we hav crossed the Comberlon Mountian and the Backboon Mountian and the end of the lookout Mountian we stayed last nite in the lookout valley we got hear a bout 12 Oclock to day Chatonuga is tore up pretey near we will start front to morrow or next day we will turne over our guns to morow morning we will draw the springfield rifel /
 
well Rittey Ann I exspect that I will be in front in a fiew days and a fine prosspect to be in a big fite dont be a larmed I think I will not dye till my time comes and if I am killed I will hav only one time to dye and if I never see you on this earth I want to meet you in heven whear we will never parte no more I hav one thing to regret I hav lived in sin and went contrary to gods law Oh may god help us we are all siners I hav rote six or seven letters since I hav got eney from you only the letter you sent by John Cooper tell the children that I send my lov to them and want to be with them but i cant now I want them to remember mee and my lov is to and I pray for you and them sweet children My prairs is for you that I may see / you face to face and talk with you. Oh Rittey Ann pray for mee donte for get your friend I lov you and hope to see you a gane write as soon as you get this letter so fare well to all Ill rite as soon as we stop and I get time so fare well I hav rote every week and get no ansors Jim said he got a letter from you and you told him to tell me that you was don planting corn it a pears that you get time to rite to others and dont rite to mee if you pleas rite one letter more to mee
