My Dear Wife I am a gane permitted to write you a fiew lins in ansor to your letter which I recived day before yestearday which I red with pleasure I was glad to hear from you glad to hear that you was all well as you was the letter baring date of the 19 it found mee well and glad to hear from you and I wish I cold hear from you every day untill I returne home the boys is all well Norman king is not with us he is tolerbel well wee landed hear on a escoart with the trans / to get provison wee hav to hall all of our flour and meat 40 milds and a escort has to go every time thrue I hav a bad way to rite and a bad lite wee hav som coald wether hear it has snowed som the ground is frosed a bout as hard hear as it was last wintter the most of the plases will bare up a hoarse the ice is a bout a half inch thick hear we hav generely had a bout three hevey frosts and a rane until it turnd coald day before yesterday the nite before was a hevey rane and turnd to spitten snow and has bin cold every sinc
 
wee tolerbel harde times now wee ant in Mo now / harder dutey to do tho not as harde times as I exspected to see when wee landed in McMinnsville I hav bin a cooking for the Companey and hav not bin on gard sinc wee landed but I will quit when wee go back thare we are oarderd in wintter quartters now and tha say wee are shure to stay all wintter I hav plentey of stamps and six dollars in money and som owing to mee yet
 
Rittey Ann dont get out of harte I think I will see you and the children yet if I never see you on this earth let mee tell you I want to meet you all in heven fare well
