My Dear Wife it is thru the kind mercey of God that I am per mitted to drop you a fiew lins to nite to let you no that I am well and doing as well as cold be exspected we are in littel huts that we bilt our selvs and I truley hope when those lins comes to hand tha will find you and the children well and doing well I recived your kind letter last nite and red it with pleasure it had your brade of hair in it and I was glad to hear from you all we are all well to nite and I am thankful to God for those blessings /
I dont hav mutch to rite at this time the rebels is a comeing hear every day and a giving them selves up and take the Oath and tha say tha are whiped and tha now tha are bound to giv up to us tha say tha hav not seen eney Caughpey sinc tha went out to fite us tha say tha are tierd of fitting the yankeys and tha say all of the privots is tierd and no tha are whiped out tha cant get a way from the Officers tha say Brags armey is a bout all destroied it is so demorelized that he has no armey hardely long streete is surounded / by burnsids and Sherman and tha are all so that tha will hav to giv up or all be slauterd up
well I will come to a close by asking you to remember me in your prairs I often think and pray for you and the children I want to be rememberd by you and the children
