My Dear Wife It is with grate pleasure that I take my pen in hand to let you no that I am well and I truley hope when those lins comes to hand tha will find you all well and doing well I recived your letter last eavning which I red with pleasure I was glad to hear from you all and I hav rote every time that the male went out from hear the boys is all well hear we hav heard that the news came to you all that Wm Serat was killed that is a mestake he kild a Rebel / Serat is well and is fat and hartey and stout and will kill every one that he can you said that you cold get 8 Dollars for my over coat 8 Dollars is no enducement to me nor 10 Dollars nether it is not for sale by my request we hav to pay 9 dollars and a half for over coats that is not worth half as mutch as that one is you tell that man he must think I am a fool he is mestaken in that this time and you sayed somthing about the stears that you cold get a goode price for them tha are not for sale unless my dets cant be pade with out / if you cant keep them hier som one to take them for I dont think that you can sell them so that you cold make it pay but if you cant keep them or get some one to take them before tha starve sell them but I no that I hav sent you money anuff for you to hav them keep if you cant do it your self you now as well as I do that you cant get near as mutch for them now as you can in the spring Q.C.A.King is in the hospittel tha say he has the flucks he went this morning and it is nite now I am a cooking for the companey Norman king Sam harper Johneethan hamons is the cooks /

time is passing by and wee must soon be lade in the coalde grave and let us try to prepare our selvs for to meete our god in peece let us liv faithful to god and then wee will be abel meete each other in that brite world of eternel gloury
 
Oh then let us try to get thare If I never see you on this earth this is my request tell the children that I send my lov to them and want to be rememberd by you all fare well
