Dear Sister yours of the 4 ins come to hand this morning which I read with a feeling sence of the goodness and merces of god for preserving my life to and after so long an absence permiting me to come back to the land of the free and to here from my friends and family a gane Rityan it made my hat leap with joy to hear that mid my sufferings troubles trials and difaculties of prison life my prayes did not assend the throne of god a lone but while I often appoac the mercies of all mighty god for my safety and the safety of my friends an family that your prayers all so assended the throne of god for me /
Dear Sister it is not worth while for me to attempt to give you a description of my travels but suffise it for the presant that threw the mercies of god I was blest with health I was trated very bad I will give you the particulars when I come home I charish a hope that it wont be long till we will meat fase to fas and con verse with each other about what has transpired during the time we have ben separated the news of the the death of our mother came in the firs letter that helen sent to me hit was a heavy blow on me but while we are deprived of her presants she is done with the troubles and trials and privations of this unfriendly world and though she is gone she has left the testimony behind / that if we continue faithful till death that we may a gane regoin her company in that world where husband and wife parens and childrain brothers and sisters never part but wher we may enjoy each others company and the peaceful presants of god throug the ceasless ages of eternity. I receved a letter from James this morning he was well and the boyes are generaly well. the Sergeant was in our ward this morning to get a list of the men that was able to regoin there regments and he said that we wold probable be orderd to the regment in the coase of 10 days and from this I found my hope that it will not be long till I will have the pleasure seeing you all a gane
we are tolerbly comfortably situated here we have a good bead to sleap on but we fare bad about grub we are fed by contracters and we are porly fed but we dont suffer we have nothing go do but keap our ward in order our cooking is done for us tha tride to mak us do deauty but we would not we told them when we was exchanged we would do deauty and to not before
the boys of our company that here is well but will baker and he is beter then he has been I think he will be discharged as I dont think that his helth will admit of his being in the army—look on the other sheat
