Feb the 28th 1864
 
My Dear Wife it is with pleasure that I take my pen in hand to let you no that I am in tolerbel helth and I truley hop when thos lins comes to hand tha will you all well and doing well we left McMinnville on the 23 and landed hear on the 26 that was day before yesterday and went on garde yesteard morning and came off this morning which maks me late a bout riting we are up at Christanana Station on the Chatnoga rale road rode i dont no how long we will stay hear some says we will stay we start to St louis to be dis banded tho my opinion is that we will move out on the front of the armey / the first mov tho I may be desived we are 15 milds from Murfreesboro we went out to see how maney men our Companey wold go in the veteren servis I think we will hav 20 or 26 of the boys and we hav som prosspect of a part of us our boys coming home on furlows and it may be that our hole Companey will come home what do you think a bout me voluntiring a gane if you are willing let me no I can get a good price the bountey will be payed to all hoo reinlist tho I dont I will enlist a gane untill I come home and see you and the children tho I will wate for a nancer from you rite soon and tell mee all the news you no /
 
            the boys is all well and in fine sperits we think the ware will not last longer then till fall if that long well sinc I hav bin ritting we hav 28 men that has put thare names down as vetrens in our Co I rote a letter last week to you I want you to rite soon and I recived one from you sinc I rote to you tell the children that I send my lov to them and want to be rememberd by them and dont think your self slited be cause I want to see you all the worst I ever did in my life tho I may never see you on this try to meet me in a better worlde a world that is free from sin so I will close
