My Dear Wife I a gane take my pen in hand to in forme you that I am well to nite only my eys is not well yet tho [?] better and I truley hope when those lins comes to hand tha will reach you in due time and find you all well I hav nothing strang to rite at this time our boys is all well except Q.C.A.king and Samuel hedrix tha was took to the hospittel and we hav not heard from them yet tha had somthing like the Choleramorbus and som say that he eat spoilt beef that caused him to be sic I cant tell what it was Joseph Martin John littler and me had went to Murfreesboro that morning and as we came back / we met John king a going after the docter tho I dont think he is dangros som of the others has the sore eyes som.
 
well Rittey Ann I rote you a letter a fiew days a go and one a long time a go one that was directed in my name and anvelop in the letter and a stamp in the letter I rote conserning of that land I told you to pay the taxt on the land if you cold not to hav it don and I wanted to no what was the matter with ned Cooper you said he had a felon on his finger but you was glad that you was not in his famely fix is he in a or not if he is let me no and hoo it belonges to and if it is a rebel dont let him rase it you had better let ned rase it his self then to hav it rased by a Copperhed pleas let me no all a bout it /
 
            Rittey Ann a nuff on that we hav not got our pay yet som says we will get paid next week I will send you som as soon as I can but if we dont get our pay next week I dont think wee will get it for too months more then we will hav six months due us I hav one dollar yet to by postage stamps with and that is all sevrel of the boys owes me and I will hav to hav som money before long I seyde in my last letter I rote to you I had the nisest goald pen for you and pen holder you evver saw in your life it is a seven dollar and a half pen and I will send it to you by the man that I can som of the boys will come home before long my ink is vary pale and my lov to you all has never faled / tho many milds a part we be my lov remans the same I hav a very good pardner to sleep with but not like one that I love so well as you and them littel sweet children tell them I send my lov to them and want them to remember me take good care of your selvs and do the best you can for your selvs
