My Dear Wife I am a gane blest this privolige of droping you a fiew lins this Sabath morning to let you no that I am well and I truley hope those lins will reach you in due time and find you all well and doing well I hav nothing strang to rite the wether is cool and clere to day we hav had nice wether for sevrel days the sitzons is plowing and has planted out thare garden stuff we hav had nice blossoms bloomed out in the garden hear in Feb but we hav vary fiew white famelys hear and tha are rebels or rebel sympethisers but still we hav to protect them tha clame protection onder the last ishue of the Presidents Procklamation / and by the oarder of generel Rusaw we hav to protact them and thare propertey well I supose that is rite so fare times is all quiott so fare as I no at the presant So fare as I no we hav a nice time hear tho I think of one hoo is near and dear to me and them littel children I used to hear talking and see them runing around but Oh I cannot be with them but I still live in hops that I will live to see you all face to face and talk with you all I cold tell you a grat many things tho you cold per haps tell me more then I can tell you I can hear the little birds sing the Robbins sets on the tree in the plesant gale of the plesant breeze which denots that sumer is drawing near and it may be that I never more see you on this earth I hope that we may meet to gether a round / the throne of God thare to dwell in peec for ever Oh let us pray for each other as often as we can and for all of our poore sick and wounded soldiers eather in bodey or mind may God help them children of God and may this onholey ware be brought to a spedey close and may the North and South come to gether as brothers and peece and tranquilitey be shouted thru the land
Well this is 4 letters that I hav rote and hav not recived the scrach of a pen from you I hav looked and looked and I hav no letter or line from you yet I am in hops that I will hear from you all soon I hav rote to pap and amey and Jacob and no ansor I rote to Wm Elliot as you said he did not now how to direct letters to me and I sent a fiew lins to pap in his letter / and if I dont get som word from them I belive I will not rite to them soon a gane I hav never heard from them only what you rote sinc a long time before I was at home. I dont no what is the matter with them I got a letter from Jacob and tha was all well it was rote on the 18 of Feb
tell the children I send my lov to them and want to be rememberd by you all rite all the news too mee that is strang and rite all a bout how you are a getting a long I am bound to say that I am vary near home sick tho if I keep my helth I can stay my time out it is six months and six days for us to serv yet it is for them to say not mi say
fare well to all for this time
