My Dear Wife it is one time more that I take my pen in hand to in forme you that I am well at this time and I truley hope when those lins comes to hand tha may find you and the children well and doing well I recived your kind letter the day before yesterday it was dated the 15 and I was glad to hear from you and the children and to hear that you was all well and a getting a long as well as you was now I will tell you som thing a bout our winter hear / we hav had the nicest winter that I hav seen for sevrel years we hav had one little snow last weeke but it was soon goan the ground has not bin frosed hear yet and we hav the apearnc of nice wether yet the beards is a singing like it was the spring of the year but still this is no pleasure to me I am a way from home and I dont no whether I will be permited to ever see you in this life but I still liv in hopes that I will se you all and get home to stay with you and the children and help you rase them /
Rittey Ann it is a time that will try every man that is in the servis whether tha will tell lies or not let me tell you we hav men in our Companey that we thought wod not tell lies and tha do you rote that Abe Cox is motherin law sed that I hope him oaf and lent him my satchel and as soon as tha started I went and repoarted them I will tell you just how it was and what I can prove I will send a fiew lins on a peece of paper in this letter / you must let me no how you are a getting a long and whether McCuen keeps you in wod or not and dose your milling as he said he wold and tell mee how the stears looks now I want you to wrighit to me just as soon as you get this letter
tell the children that I send my lov to them and want them to be good to thare mother and when I com home I will bring them a prettey book a peece
