My Dear Wife i am permited to drop you a fiew lins to let you no that i am in tolerble well at this time and i truley hope when those lins comes to hand tha will find you well and the children well and doing well
I hav nothing strang to rite at this time we are all in tolerble good helth at this time James is a getting som stouter he has bin puney write smarte while
we hav just heard good nuse and if it is tru i think we hav peece before long the Sutheren Congress / is crying for peece and i hope and desier peece and i pray for peece so that i can come home to see you and to liv with you and the children i want to see you and the children mitey bad oh that i was with you and the children to nite i cold hav som pleasure with you but in stid of being with you i am hear in an old shantey a setting on an old bench with Charls Stuard and James but oh tha are not mutch companey to me i wold rather be at home with you and liv on bred and / meet then to liv a way from you one month on the best things that ever cold be set on a table and be payed eney price oh i am tierd of of living a soldier life it is a harde and tiersom life to liv Rittey Ann i got a letter from father and Cenith Sanders Father was not well nor never exspected to see us in this world and he wanted us to try to meete him in heven wheare we will never parte nomore and let us try to meete him / and each other oh let us try to do the vary best we can and if i never meete with you on this earth let us try to meete in heven wheare we will never parte no more thare we will not hav ware thare write soon and let me no how you are a getting a long we hav nice warme wether hear let me no how the spring has bin whether you hav cold wether or not
